DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Fr'es DuchĂȘne, Paris, lever fusee with calendar function, 45mm, multicolor 18K gold or better (case holds 18K test on stone and has slow gradual fade on stone of 22K test) OF original consular case with superb artistic cherub scene against a fluted background, white enamel dial with winding aperture at 4, KWKS, lever escapement is presumably a later conversion from an original verge, gilt mvt with pierced and engraved foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, bi-metallic balance wheel is presumably a later conversion from a steel original, no visible s#. This movement appears to have been largely modified with its conversion to lever escapement and bi-metallic balance wheel. Gross weight of assembled watch 48.2 dwt (75.0 g). Comes with two keys, one for winding, one for setting.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, calendar function untested as calendar hand is lacking and presence and condition of calendar mechanism components is unknown, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, numbers crudely scratched to gilt plate above "Paris" and to the right of "Paris" to white metal plate, scattered fine scratches elsewhere; dial with patched chip adjacent winding aperture with much of the 4 numeral repainted, subtle wearing to enamel on the tops of the 4's to 40 and 45; excellent hour and minute hands, missing calendar hand; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail overall with reduction primarily at highest areas, button latch good; bow pivots freely with play at pendant; good domed glass crystal.
